This building was built by the AMP Society for their own use.
It was the third building they built on this site which they owned for more than 100 years.
No expense was spared and it was built to the very highest standards of the day. Today it remains a building with very solid construction, stainless-steel walls and a copper roof.
The AMP finally sold the building into private ownership in 1997 and it has been owned and managed by the same owners ever since.
The current owner's office is located on the First Floor. There is a resident Building Engineer. The result is that the day to day running of the building is most efficient, and any problems are dealt with before they become an inconvenience.
The basement contains a secure, state of the art data centre with very high speed connectivity through many fibre optic cables entering the building from Queen Street, Victoria Street and Lorne Street. An ever increasing number of technology tenants who rent office space connect to their racks in the basement directly through cables running up the building.
